During the 2015-16 school year, Gina Dhinsa attended Samuel Robertson Technical, where she is a very active student leader. Â
Gina, a Student Council Executive, has helped organize almost every event hosted at SRT, including our Annual Spirit Week and Assemblies, our annual Poetry Slam and a Breast Cancer Pink Ribbon Fundraiser.
She also organized a student vote during the last federal election, and convinced all of the political candidates to present their platform to our students at SRT. In the community, Gina is a member of the Young Liberals of Maple Ridge Club and and a Breast Health Ambassador for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
Gina is also one of our top academic students.  She has been a Top Titan (straight A’s) for every report card since her Grade 8 year! Gina is passionate about making a global  difference by raising funds and awareness for equal access to education for female rights in developing nations. Â
Gina has already received the President’s Entrance Scholarship at the University of the Fraser Valley where she will pursue studies in the Global Development Program. She intends to pursue a career in politics and the SRT staff is confident that we will some day vote for Gina as Prime Minister of Canada!  Â
The list is just a sample of outstanding students in the school district selected by their school during the 2015/16 school year – there are many others who were equally deserving of recognition for their exemplary achievements both inside and outside the classroom.Â
Every Tuesday throughout the school year, SD42 will profile a student selected as one of the 2016 Leaders of Tomorrow.
