By Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows News Staff

The Maple Ridge secondary wrestling team won the Fraser North zone championship for girls wrestling for the sixth season straight.

Leading the way were female team captains Agnia Krakovska and Sophia Stark, who both placed first in their respective weight classes.

Bella Berner and Maya Shylov also made the finals and won silver, Margot Nielsen and Zoe Ndiom took third, and Caelan Fuller and Mya Corney were four. Krakovska, Stark and Berner are the only veteran wrestlers on the team, and with all other girls on the team in their first year, the future looks bright for girls wrestling at MRSS, said coach Kevin Menic.
