Summer Learning

The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows Ҵý District is offering the following summer learning options for 2024. For more information about these offerings, review our flyer or contact the continuing education department (ce@sd42.ca or 604.466.6555, extension 1). 

Registration for summer learning starts on April 17, 2025.

The school district also offers three weeks of multi-sport afternoon camps for elementary summer learning program students. Information on these afternoon camps will be posted to this page shortly. 

Elementary — English and French Immersion

Elementary students (up to and including Grade 6) participating in the summer learning program will engage in academic activities across different areas of study. Program outcomes will be linked to Ministry of Education and Child Care grade level learning standards. Classroom teachers may explore and reinforce learning outcomes in literacy, numeracy, and/or STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), or ADST (applied design, skills, and technology). The French Immersion summer learning program, hosted at Laity View Elementary, is designed to support students currently enrolled in full-time French Immersion.

Regular attendance is required – please plan accordingly. Families will receive a confirmation of enrolment by June 11, 2025.

REGISTRATION

Families can register through the Parent Portal () between noon, Thursday, April 17 and 3 p.m. Thursday, May 8. Registrations received after the deadline or once capacity has been reached will be waitlisted (the waitlist registration period runs between May 14 and June 6). Please note that priority will be given to SD42 catchment students, followed by the registration time stamp.

To enrol your child, go to and click on the “Registration” tab. Select “Current Year 2024/2025” and choose your program. Families with a child who is not currently enrolled in SD42 should select the Begin Enrolment Request button (green), while families with a current SD42 student should select the Begin Transfer Request (orange) button.

Grade 7 to 8 Transition Explorations - Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies (ADST) or Fine Arts - Drama, Art

Students wanting to register in the Grade 7 to 8 Transition summer learning program must choose the Video Game Design/Coding program, the Woodwork/Metal Work program, or the Drama/Art program. Students can only register for one program. The program outcomes will be linked to Grade 8 learning standards.

Regular attendance is required – please plan accordingly. Families will receive a confirmation of enrolment by June 11, 2025.

*Please note: To accommodate the volume of requests for ADST Technology, Video Game Design/Coding, we may need to consider staggered programming. If this occurs, students will be assigned either the 8:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. time slot or the 10:50 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. time slot.

Grade 8-9 Literacy and Numeracy Skill-Building Program

The Literacy and Numeracy Skill-Building program is designed to build positive engagement with teachers and learning. This program is available for students currently in grade 8-9 and is designed to boost academic skills in preparation for the next grade level. Students must register for their current grade level. Program outcomes will be linked to grade level English language arts and mathematics standards.

Regular attendance is required – please plan accordingly. Families will receive a confirmation of enrolment by June 11, 2025.

Grade 10-12 Courses Leading to Graduation

The summer learning offerings for grade 10-12 credit courses leading to graduation. Courses offered are listed below. Students can register in one course only. There is an option to choose an alternate course in case your first-choice course does not run or has reached capacity. A textbook deposit may be collected for courses requiring textbooks. Tuition for international students registered in the program will be $1,200.
