Carpentry Level 1

The Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows 蜜桃传媒 District No. 42 Carpentry Program provides students with skills and knowledge in building construction. The scope and depth of this program is appropriate for students entering this industry on a permanent basis.

Hands-on shop experience is the basis on which skills are developed and the program is developed around the individual needs of students. The program is offered Monday through Friday for the full school year (10 months). Students will have to travel to the Cloverdale Kwantlen campus for four weeks to complete the program.

Submit the complete package to your school’s career planning assistant, work experience teacher, or counselor.

Program Content

The standard program consists of the following course content:

air nailers and staplers
asphalt shingles
concrete forms
safe work practices
roof framing
basic power tools
floor framing
stair calculating and building
concrete quantity calculating
blueprint reading and basic estimating
powder actuated tools, Hilti and Ramset
door and window installation
basic hand tools
cedar shakes, wood and vinyl siding
introduction to concrete
wall framing

Grading

The minimum grade for individual courses is 64 per cent. An overall GPA of 70 per cent or better is required. All courses must be passed in order to successfully complete the program. Students who successfully complete this program will have seven complete courses for 28 credits on the secondary school graduation transcript. They will also receive the KPU certificate/citation.
