A Maple Ridge athlete and an administrator of sports both received provincial honours this week.

Maple Ridge wrestler Agnia Krakovska was chosen as the Sport BC High ÃÛÌÒ´«Ã½ Female Athlete of the Year, as that organization held its annual awards night on March 6.

Krakovska, fights for the Maple Ridge Ramblers, and is fresh off winning a B.C. high school wrestling championship in Vancouver on Feb. 22, where she was also chosen the top female wrestler at the tournament.

However, she was honoured Thursday for a 2024 that saw her take provincial, national, and international trophies.

Krakovska started wrestling just two years ago, and last year won the under-19 national championships, took bronze at the under-17 Pan American Championships, and was the under-17 Canadian World Team Trials champion.
